Slovakia is composed about different mountains which allows people to ski. The Slovak landscape is noted primarily for its mountainous nature, with the Carpathian Mountains extending across most of the northern half of the country. Amongst these mountain ranges are the high peaks of the Fatra-Tatra Area (including Tatra Mountains, Greater Fatra and Lesser Fatra), Slovak Ore Mountains, Slovak Central Mountains or Beskids. The largest lowland is the fertile Danubian Lowland in the southwest, followed by the Eastern Slovak Lowland in the southeast.
Because of these mountains, we tried to plan a travel to ski in Tatra Mountains which are the most famous. It exists approximately 120 ski stations which allow people to ski. So, we try to find one station with several ski runs. But stations in Slovakia are deeply smaller than in France with Alpes and Pyrenees. There is just one station called “Jasna Low Tatras” which is bigger than other stations in Slovakia. It has about 41 ski run whereas the second biggest ski station has just 15 ski run.
Below, a map of ski stations in Slovakia where you can see the biggest station Jasna Low Tatras.

So of course, the price is expansive in the biggest ski station but it is also the best. We checked the price to ski and the hostel price to stay about 3 or 4 days. Unfortunately, one day to ski cost 39 euros, so it was a bit expansive for us. And we didn’t really found a good hostel to sleep. If we wanted to do this trip, we had to spend at least 350 by person. We thought together and we decided to cancel this trip because our budget is a bit restricted for other trips.
But the most important problem to go to ski is the transport. Even if we checked on Internet, we did not find really a good transport to go to the station or it was so complicated to realise.
To conclude, we can say that it is possible to ski in Slovakia for a decent price but not in the biggest city. If often you go to ski in France, the stations are bigger than in Slovakia. So, you must do a choice, skiing cheaper but with less ski runs like 10 or 12 or skiing more expansive but with an excellent domain.
