Organisation of the trip

In November 2016, we found that our Erasmus trip would be in Nitra, Slovakia. So we had to prepare it : check the itinerary, book plane tickets, find accommodation, etc…

Transport

We checked the dates of the journey: from February 6th to May 12 th. We decided to leave a few days before the courses beginning and we took plane tickets from Paris Orly to Vienna (AUS) on the February 3rd. Then, from Vienna to Nitra, we’ll have to take a bus, which costs between 3 and 7€. We haven’t taken the bus tickets yet, but we know that there are 2 bus per hour from Vienna’s airport, with a stopover in Bratislava. We also know that the route is approximately 3 hours long. We will probably take the tickets just before getting in the bus. Tom’s « buddy » has kindly proposed to take us from Nitra’s bus station when we’ll be there to get us to our accommodation. Thus, we may unpack our luggage and take it easy on arrival in Nitra.

Housing

About the accommodation, we looked for apartments near our university, but it was very difficult to find one. So, we took the easy way and completed the form for dormitories inside the SUA, our university. We’ll have to share a room with 1 or 2 other students, but we don’t know yet if we’ll be together or if we’ll share a room with foreign students. Our referent in Nitra told us that our rooms were booked, so we won’t have to sleep under a bridge!

Contact with students

During the last month, we received some information about the university from students: they sent us emails to invite us to join the Facebook group of Erasmus students in Nitra. Furthermore, we received a « survival guide » that you can find following this link:survival-guide

People there seem to be concerned about the smooth running of our journey. They attibuated us one « buddy » each to help us to survive in this unknown country! So we’re hopefull and enthusiastic for the following 3 months.
